Heat Wave

This has been a very interesting week here in the Pacific Northwest! We are normally noted for our gentle temperatures and mild weather because of our location near the Pacific Ocean. However, whether it is just a cycle or is, indeed, due to global warming, we are experiencing a heat wave of monumental proportions. Not only have we exceeded the highs for certain days but we are in line to exceed the all-time high for the Seattle area! Here at our house we have kept ourselves relatively cool by refurbishing an old air conditioning window unit and installing it in the upper level of the house and using a portable one in a downstairs window during the day and evening and those, along with a few fans, have kept us fairly cool On a personal note I have been recovering from two leg infections; one that started in March and the other in June. I went out in this monstrous heat to see my doctor and got the fantastic news that my original wound has totally healed over and is now nothing but a small area of new, pink skin. The second wound is getting smaller and he removed the stitches, which really does mean I am on the road to recovery! The week has been filled with wonder at watching the Space Station race through the sky for a brief few minutes and at having a visit from my two year old grandniece. What a wonderful world!
