A Dipping Dinner in Denver

Last night’s dinner was special. I was in Denver for business. We had finished our meetings and went out for dinner to a local restaurant. The theme of the restaurant is dipping sauces. Just about everything you order comes accompanied with your choice of three sauces from a list of about 60 sauces that they offer – divided into sweet, savory and spicy. My selection was beef tenderloin on a bed of mashed potatoes, accompanied by sautéed mushrooms. I selected two savory sauces — pepper aioli and roasted corn. I also tried a spicy selection – Indonesian chili sauce. It was interesting, but very hot! It was fun to vary the taste of the beef with the different sauces. For dessert, I had flourless chocolate cake. This, too, came with dipping sauces – crème anglaise, hot fudge and strawberry cointreau. It was very rich and worth every calorie.
