Last Night’s Great Dinner

March 29th, 2010

Like everybody in different places in the whole world, we also had a dinner last night. That dinner last night was not the same as what we had before. It is because of my companions and what we had for dinner. Before, we usually have rice, the most basic food especially for Filipinos. We also have different viands that are paired with rice. There are at least two viands to choose from. For example, “adobo” (a Filipino dish) and noodles are prepared for a dinner. Some food which are also considered as viands are chicken curry, chicken barbecue, fried chicken, fried fish, fish soup, chop soy, mixed vegetables such as string beans, potatoes, carrots, squash, eggplant, sweet peas and other green leafy vegetables, beef steak, roasted pork, grilled pork or beef, hot dogs, meat loaf, beef loaf, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs, corned beef, sardines, grilled fish and fish fillet. Last night, we had rice, of course. We also had roasted pork, pancit (a Chinese food), and satay, beef steak, crabs with coconut and fish fillet. A grape-flavored juice was prepared and we had cake and ice cream for desserts. We ate it together with my family including my cousins. We talk and laugh and we had a great dinner last night.

My Past Week Was Awesome!!

March 24th, 2010

How was it? Well, let’s see. Vanna, spin that wheel. The first letter is B; yes, we have a B! Second letter is R. Do you want to buy a vowel? Ok, “O”…, do you want to guess? Is there a G, yes there is a G. So far we have B O R _ _ G. If you guessed BORING, you are either very smart or you live down the block from me. You might ask why my week was boring but that would bring us back to where I live. There is a beautiful, cloudless, blue sky above me. I have a bright, crystal clear pond in the center of a lovely park just down the street. It is a weekday afternoon in July and I don’t work. Sounds like a dream come true, right? There is only one small fly in this ointment, I live in Phoenix, Arizona and it is 115 degrees outside. No one is outside here! The children are all at home with their little noses pressed to the glass looking out just like in Minnesota on a January day. The good news, this too shall pass, hopefully by Christmas!

I have a huge garden that’s been producing far too much food. My few grocery trips in the last month or so have consisted of buying dairy and fish. So, last night’s dinner was made almost entirely from garden produce – consisting of lemon roasted salmon, with carrots, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, summer squash and kohlrabi – all fresh picked that afternoon for a warm and delicious meal! On the side, we had mashed potatoes and a tomato salad, again primarily made from garden produce – with the exception of the vinegar and oil that went on the tomato salad for dressing. It was a quick and delicious meal that everyone enjoyed!

Standard dog beds

March 20th, 2010

There are many types of dog-beds and one of them is described here. Standard dog beds look like cushions or pillows and do not have edges or rims. They are available in many shapes, sizes, materials and colors. Shapes typically include round, oval, rectangular and square. Many of these beds are covered with materials such as fleece, flannel, denim, faux suede, or microfiber. They often contain polyester filling and/or foam padding. Some beds are also filled with cedar chips to deter odors and insects. Standard dog beds range in quality from basic economy to expensive designer versions. Many have removable, washable covers. Standard beds are great for all dog breeds, but may not offer the support needed for senior dogs or dog with orthopedic problems.
