The morning starts with waking up to the alarm clock. I get up along with our daughter and get her ready for school. We make breakfast, get dressed, and head out the door. I drop her off and head back home. I feed all the animals and go upstairs to wake my husband. I make him his breakfast and eat with him as well. He takes a shower and heads off to work leaving me with the household duties. I wash dishes, laundry, do some shopping if need to be done, and then go to pick up my daughter from school. I give her a snack and we sometimes go outside to play. I begin to make dinner while my husband is coming home from work. We eat, clean up, and sit to relax and watch a little T.V. We give our daughter a bath and head upstairs to bed. We read a story and tuck her in. My husband and I watch the T.V. for an hour or two and head to bed ourselves. Then the next day starts all over again and the same things are done all over again as well.

Same Things, Different Day!
November 30th, 2009Learning Lessons from Our Dog
November 28th, 2009Our dog is a Boston Terrier. He is now 13 years old. He has been through many of life’s ups and downs with us. He has helped us through the tough times. He has been there for us any time we needed him. We have tried our best to be there for him also. Over the years we learned just how important it is to take care of him through plenty of exercise and proper nutrition. We have learned many things from his veterinarians, including how to be there for him in his old age. How to take care of a dog changes over the span of their life. When they’re a puppy, one must spend time in training and socializing. When they’re a senior, one must help them in getting around a bit more when they begin to lose some of their hearing and vision. Dogs are a joy and some even like dog cologne. They will be there for us. We must commit to being there for them and learn from them along the way.

Pure Bred Rogue
November 26th, 2009I have a pure bred Rottweiler named Rogue. Before Rogue, I was terrified of Rottweilers. I would never have owned one, but my husband wanted one so very badly. I found the perfect way to get over the fear of a certain breed is to own one as a tiny puppy and watch it grow up. I never would have guessed how attached I could become to a dog. She loves wearing dog Christmas sweaters too. It is funny how I thought that her nose looked pushed in when we first got her. Now she looks normal to me and other dogs like Labs look like they have extra long noses. Rogue is almost eight years old now. She is very strong willed, but also a very big baby. Her bark and growl sound ferocious, but she would never hurt a fly. She really is a sweetheart.
The various facets of dogs
November 25th, 2009In the world of pet animals, dog takes an important role. It is a friendly, at the same time a gratitude filled animal. The salient feature of dog could be its smelling power. By its smelling power only it has been a good and needed friend of police. By its help most of crimes and culprits are being traced. Those are popularly called the sniffer dogs. Dogs are grown with a friendship mode and for safety for one’s house. Among all the creatures in the world, the best known for gratitude to its boss would be dogs. There are a lot of exotic and indigenous breed of dogs along the globe. The pups are being treated as a play toys among the children. They have a greater affinity towards dogs. I have a dog named Festus, he’s the smartest dog I’ve ever seen. I adopted him from the local shelter when he was just six weeks old. He was so small he fit into a dog Christmas stocking I bought him! Due to the fact he was so young, the shelter was going to put the dog to sleep because they were worried about ‘hidden’ parvo virus. I couldn’t bare the thought of them killing the dog just because he was a puppy so I signed a waiver and adopted the dog. He has a crazy personality and I’m convinced if he was a person, he would be Jim Carrey. Festus’ tricks include, shaking, high five, waving, saying please when he wants a treat and shooting the moon (goes down on his elbows and sticks his bum in the air). His most amazing ‘tricks’ are all self taught. If I take my shoes off he automatically brings me my slippers, if I drop something on the floor he picks it up for me and brings it back, at supper time he gathers all three of my dogs’ food bowls and brings them to me to be filled. I love him to death, he’s my best friend.
Who Done It

I enjoy watching CSI. Actually I enjoy watching all of the CSI spin offs too. There is something about watching all of the technology that is helping to solve crimes, and prevent them. I always hope that as people watch these programs and realize that, although the stories are fictional, they will understand that it is getting harder and harder to get away with anything so it is not worth breaking the law. I enjoy keeping up with the interactions of the characters. It is a mature interaction between adults who are caring, sensitive and real. I credit the writers for not falling into the “hop in bed” and “inane relationships” found on other, similar, programs. I have seen with my students that, when we attack a problem with CSI techniques, they are interested and use their creativity to solve a problem, whether it me math or language arts or social studies. Finally, CSI does not glorify crime. It shows the horror and how one criminal act can affect many people.
When Thrift Stores Beckon
November 23rd, 2009When the shopping itch takes hold, the stores I use to scratch it are not the glamorous ones with shiny tile and bright lights. No, I hasten to the thrift stores, the secondhand Rose types, the ones that might be scary if you pull up to them alone after the sun has gone down. I love rifling through the treasures that someone had trouble parting with, the strange odds and ends that used to reside in someone else’s kitchen, living room, garage, and bedroom. Will I find something truly valuable, discarded like so much rubbish amongst the unwanted text books and outgrown play clothes? Will I find that “thing I’ve been looking for all my life,” hidden amongst the fake flowers or ancient Christmas décor? There are certain thrift stores I avoid – the mark-ups they put on someone else’s tax write-offs are laughable. It’s the realistic thrift stores that will always get my repeat business.
Slow Days

Lately, my days have been going by slowly. Most of the time, until school starts, I feel as if I have no purpose at all except to, obviously, take care of my daughter. I guess this is because I’m so used to being in school and now that I took off for maternity reasons, things are boring. Although, I must say, the time I do go out and hang with my friends have been very fun. Even when an old friend came to visit and we had a late night Wal-Mart run out of nowhere, I can’t help but say that I missed the old days of care free fun. Now that I’m back on the dating scene again, it isn’t as horrible as I thought it would be. I never thought I’d find such a nice guy so quickly after breaking up with my child’s father, but I guess all things are possible. I guess in the past week, I’ve seen that I better enjoy the time I have spending with my daughter because I will be back in school soon and who knows how busy I’ll be. Also, I’m glad I have such good friends who can help me out whenever needed and know how to have a good time even in these hard economic times.
Teaching Dogs to Wear Outfits
November 18th, 2009Pick out dog clothes that will best suit your dog. Preferably thin, soft fabric. When selecting a coat, make sure to pick one that has insulation and can protect from the wind. Once chosen, place the dog outfit over the dog’s head, align the dog clothing so the front is facing properly, and gently slide each of the dog’s legs one at a time through the holes. When first starting out you should dress your pet in xxs dog clothes for a just a few minutes at a time to get him or her use to what you’re doing. Your dog should also be rewarded with treats while getting dressed and should be given affection simultaneously to reinforce that the act of wearing clothing is a good thing.
Not Enough Sleep
November 16th, 2009My day started of not so bad except that I didn’t get enough sleep. I went to work and it was boring as usual. I like my job and the people it’s just not very busy. I found out my son was home alone 2 hours by himself because he was supposed to go to the Boys and Girls Club, however they were closed, so he went home. My dad that lives right down the street got him so it ended up being okay. He is nine and does well in situations like this. When I got off from my evening job I had 30 minutes to get dessert with my best friend, he really makes me happy. He almost made me clock in late. I then came to my other job which is even more boring. Its third shift so there’s nothing to do at all. When I get off here guess where I’m going, to my third job. Exciting! I’m only there for 3 hours though. Besides wanting to do more then just work all the time, I have pretty much had a normal day.
