Hearty, Healthy, and Tasty!

October 23rd, 2009

Last night, we had shrimp and veggies cooked on the bar-be-cue and served with quinoa. First I made a lemon juice and olive oil marinade with herbs and garlic. After it sat for a couple of hours, I strained it and marinated the vegetables which included cherry tomatoes, onions, Anaheim peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini for about an hour before adding the large shrimp and marinating the entire mixture for another half hour. I grilled everything and served it with quinoa (that I had simmered in chicken stock). We added some nice Sauvignon Blanc and really enjoyed the meal.

The true American family

October 14th, 2009

My favorite TV show is of course The Simpsons. It is the cartoon about one American family. The cartoon shows and makes fun of American way of living. We can say it is cartoon for all ages, not just for kids. The Simpsons are so funny; I can watch it for hours. Every character is special. But they are all funny. I do not have favorite character. I love them all. But if I have to choose my choices are Bart and Homer. Bart is the son and Homer is dad. They are amazing. Homer is the kind of dad I would like to have and Bart is the kind of son I would not like to have. But together they make perfect couple. For troubles of course. Homer is so lazy and that is way I like him. He reminds me of myself. Bart always finds problem for every solution.

Yo Yo, As I Affectionately Call Her

October 13th, 2009

Yolanda Adams is by far my favorite artist. From the time she spent with The Southeast Inspirational Choir and when she started her solo career, she has been my favorite. Yolanda Adams is a gospel singer and not all gospel singers are ministers. A minister of music delivers the Word of God through song. The words or lyric in the song bring forth the Spirit of God in song. What I also like about Yolanda is that when I met her at two of her concerts in Philadelphia, she was down to earth and treated my friends and me like we were just regular people as well. My favorite song by Yolanda is Through The Storm. It was her first single from her first album and eight albums later it’s still my favorite. Anyone going through troubled times needs to listen to that song and allow God to intercede for them. The storms of life will blow They’re sure to come and go They meet me at a time When I’m calm and doing fine But the Captain of my soul He’s always on board He rocks me in His arms While riding through the storm Almost every song on each of her albums is one that could be a hit and the words will bless you as you listen.
