Allergic dermatitis is a skin condition in dogs if left untreated can turn into a devastating illness for your pet. The most common allergy is from fleas. One fleabite on a dog with an allergic condition can cause the animal to scratch and chew continuously, causing hair loss around the tail area, hind end and feet. The excessive chewing can lead to both bacterial and yeast infections on the animal. The best way to keep this from happening is to keep your pet flea free. Not only does the pet require flea medications, but areas that the pet frequents need to be pest free, including your lawn, home and any designer dog beds. There are many effective products for flea protection. Although many of the products are expensive, it is much better than the alternative. Dogs with severe allergic dermatitis will require a veterinarian visit, as well as medications like antibiotics for the bacterial infection, possible oral anti-fungal medication, as well as steroids to keep them from chewing and mutilating themselves. If your pet has any signs of allergic dermatitis, please begin checking for fleas immediately and begin the appropriate regimen to keep him happy and healthy.

September 29th, 2009Breakfast for Dinner

Busy in the morning getting ready for work but miss that yummy breakfast of hash browns & sausage. Sometimes I long for the hardy breakfast food. I decided that a menu of raisin bread French toast, homemade hash browns, and browned sausage would solve my breakfast food cravings. It was a nice switch from the rice, meat, and vegetable that is the normal dinner menu. Dinner doesn’t have to be what most think it would be. Eating various foods throughout the day can be a great way to use supplies in the cupboards and refrigerator. Next time you aren’t sure what to make consider making breakfast for dinner. It will be a welcomed surprise.
This is Your Day, Joan
September 24th, 2009The day begins around 7:00 a.m. with three games of cribbage with my husband, unless one of us wins two right away. We always play for the best two out of three. This has been going on for years, and we probably have split wins 50-50. At least that’s what I like to think. Then I get dressed, make and eat breakfast, brush my teeth and decide what to do for the day. I usually spend several hours on my computer as I do lots of surveys and e-mail. Now that I have found writing, I am spending much more time on the computer. Next is lunch and watching two soap operas from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. After that is reading a book, and nap time. After my nap, I spend some more time on the computer. Some days I work out in the garden or do some sewing. Then it is time for dinner and our evening TV programs or reading. Off to bed around 10:30 after watching the evening news. BORING!

Tons of Stuff to do
September 18th, 2009Well, we’ve been to museums, the aquarium, the planetarium, the zoo, to the Alliance Française, and to so many other places, and the stories have always featured some of the same characters, so if this woman isn’t telling the truth, she should be a novelist. Now, am I saying all this because Madeleine Loveliness makes this city splendid, or is the city splendid in itself? For that answer you would have to go with us on a long ramble through the Magi Collines, that part of town whose houses flow under broad tree-lined streets with Japanese lanterns hung across the gates. If the six or seven hours you spend with us doesn’t both exhilarate you, and burn you to a crisp; and if when I call you at 6 the next evening with another of her proposals, then you won’t know why I say, “This city of cities always rises.”

A Week in the Life of Joy
September 14th, 2009This past week has been full of its ups and downs. The economy is horrible, so my husband and I have been freaking about how we’re going to get our bills paid in time and just yesterday, we had to jump start our Jeep, which made me very late to work. Other than freaking out about that, it’s been a great week filled with laughter and happiness. We’ve got a new kitten that is very loving and sweet. The other cats seem to enjoy playing with her, but on occasion, the oldest can get grouchy and growl at her. My husband and I ate a delicious dinner at an Italian restaurant and afterwards, we went to the beach to take a walk and watch the sunset. Yesterday, we talked about starting a family eventually and decided we were going to move back to the east coast to be closer to my family. My life is definitely an interesting one.
No Power Tonight

Two hours later, R.C. came grumbling about too many people using too much electricity as he opened the basement door. From the hallway, I could hear him flipping the fuse switches. “Hey, Mr. Nobody! Unplug all your things!” (R.C. is convinced that, whenever there is a problem with electricity, I’m the source of the problem.) Nothing happened. When he came back upstairs, he checked the side of the house and let out a blood-curdling scream. “That son of a hamster! He stole the box!” It seems that Mr. Hamsterson, a pot-smoking, prostitute-frequenting resident whom R.C. had evicted earlier that day decided to get his revenge on R.C. by stealing the local power company’s meter; when the LPC noticed the power flowing without being recorded, they cut the power. In short order the police and an LPC mobile unit arrived. As I walked back to my room, I heard R.C. say, “I know where that pin-headed suckface intends to spend the night; let’s go put him in handcuffs.” Did he find him? I don’t know; I didn’t care; because when I got back to my room, I found that the interruption in power had destroyed another iMovie–just as before, when the lights went out because I’d had eight devices plugged in to the one socket at my right, which is now black with grief.
Simply perfect

Last night for dinner I had pizza. Pizza is my favorite food and I can always eat it. Even when I am not hungry. Couple friends came to my place; we had some beers and of course play station three. Guy’s night. We ordered pizza from our favorite place called Banana. It is some small place next to the river. Pizza was just perfect. Warm, very juice but not very spicy. Just the way I like it. I took pizza with cheese, ham and mushrooms. My favorite combination. I do not like pizza with eggs, bacon and when there are some products from the sea like fish or octopus. The pizza we have ordered was big enough for two people. I do not like when my pizza is too small. Pizza from yesterday was with some extra cheese and that gives pizza some special flavor. It went perfect with beer.
To Go to School or Not?
September 3rd, 2009If I am going to be in college, I prepare myself and get ready for it. If not, I try to help my grandparents home, because my parents are working. I spend a lot of time with my grandparents. They are funny and I always laugh. They tell me stories about their past, and it is exciting. In the late of the day, I am trying to hang out with my friends, if we have time, if not I am probably home finishing my homework. I keep my hands from getting lazy. Late at night, all my family is together and we have a dinner together. It is great to see all of them together, and it is wonderful feeling. After the dinner my parents go to sleep, as my grandparents too. However, I do not do that. I go to my room, and probably review about homework in college next day, and study most of the time, until my eyes get closed.
